Terms & Conditions

Clear terms. No surprises.

These are our standard booking terms. Your personal proposal and invoice contain the specific details for your journey, and they take precedence where they differ.

Booking & confirmation

An enquiry does not create a booking. Your journey is confirmed only when we have accepted your booking in writing and received the deposit set out in your proposal.

The proposal, invoice and these terms together form the agreement for your trip. Where they differ, the specific terms in your proposal take precedence.

Payments

A deposit is required to confirm arrangements, with the balance due before travel. The exact amounts and dates are shown on your invoice.

Government fees — including the Sustainable Development Fee and visa fees — are payable in advance and are non-refundable once submitted. Bank charges and currency conversion costs are borne by the traveller.

Cancellation

All cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellation charges depend on the date of cancellation, non-refundable government fees and the policies of the hotels, airlines and other suppliers we have confirmed for you.

The applicable charges will be set out in your booking proposal. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

Changes to your journey

Date changes and route changes are subject to availability and any difference in supplier costs. We will always tell you the cost before confirming a change.

Weather, road conditions, festival schedules and other local circumstances may require us to adjust an itinerary for safety or practicality. We will provide the closest reasonable alternative.

Passports, visas & permits

You are responsible for holding a valid passport and for providing accurate personal details for visa or permit applications. Most passports must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended entry.

We arrange visa clearances and permits on your behalf where included in your proposal. Entry remains subject to the decision of Bhutanese immigration authorities.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Cover should include medical treatment and evacuation, cancellation, delays, lost baggage and activities such as trekking where relevant.

Respectful travel

Bhutan values courtesy and calm, particularly in religious and public spaces. Travellers are expected to follow local guidance on dress, photography, drones and behaviour at sacred sites. See our Dos & Don'ts guide for the essentials.

We may decline or end arrangements where behaviour is unsafe, illegal or seriously disrespectful to local people or places.

Liability

We act as an organiser, booking services with airlines, hotels, guides and other suppliers. We are not liable for losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, road closures, civil unrest or government action.

We do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any claim should be notified to us in writing promptly so we can investigate.

Privacy

We use the details you send us to answer your enquiry and arrange your travel. We do not sell your personal information. Our suppliers receive only the details needed for your booking.

Questions about these terms can be sent to our office in Thimphu. We would rather explain something early than resolve it later.
